Everyone has those days once and a while. Maybe you are feeling a bit more tired than usual. Or maybe you have been putting in constant effort for an extended period and are yet to see the results. While you might consider yourself more determined than the average individual, some days, you struggle to find inspiration. When you are feeling a bit down and need some inspiration, try one of the methods below to help get you out of your funk.
1. Go Witness A Professional Perform Their Craft
It is very inspiring to see someone good at their craft. An example could be listening to a great public speaker or a comedian, watching a professional athlete or an actor in a play, going to a concert or an art exhibit, or several other ways individuals share their talent.
Regardless of what they do, when someone is good at their craft, it can be a great source of inspiration for a number of different reasons.
Firstly, when you watch someone great at what they do, you can recognize that they have worked very hard to achieve the results that you are now seeing. It can be an inspiration and a reminder of where hard work can lead.
You might be at a different location in your journey to achieve your goals and begin to wonder if all the hard work will ever pay off. While you might be pursuing something completely different than the performance you are watching, it can still inspire you to keep working hard.
Secondly, when you go to a performance, you can see these individuals make mistakes, even though they are professionals at what they do. Examples could be your favorite artist forgetting a line of their lyrics, or the league’s best quarterback throwing an interception.
While they may be the best of the best in their respective crafts, it is important to recognize that everyone makes mistakes. Not only do they make mistakes, but they can bounce back, refocus, and continue performing.
It is inspiring to see that even the best make a mistake or a blunder on occasion. It allows you to put in perspective some of the setbacks or roadblocks you have had as you work to achieve your dream, and inspire you to keep ongoing.
2. Get Some Exercise
It is amazing what some exercise, an increased heart rate, and a bit of sweat can for your outlook on life. Sometimes you need to clear your head, and a popular way to do that is by exercise.
When you are exercising, you seem to forget about whatever it is that you are lacking inspiration for. Exercise serves as a distraction from your thoughts and a way to blow off some steam.
In addition to the health benefits of exercise, many people choose to do it daily because they feel so inspired afterward. The feeling of inspiration comes from your body releasing endorphins as you exercise, which helps to trigger positive feelings.
The feelings can become somewhat addicting over time and push you to experience them more frequently. Starting your morning with an early workout can help put you on a path of positivity and inspiration for the rest of your day.
3. Listen To Music
Music is a powerful form of art. One song can allow the brain to wander and bring back various different emotions and memories.
In addition to helping you reminisce, music can be a strong inspirational factor when you are struggling to make progress with what you are working on. Some get caught up in the lyrics, while others focus on the instrumentation.
Next time you lack inspiration or creativity, spend 30 minutes to create a playlist. Focus on your favorite songs that bring back happy memories, songs with lyrics that inspire you, or songs with a high tempo that provide some form of motivation.
4. Listen To Someone Talk About Their Passion
You might not share the same interest, but it can be very inspiring when you listen to someone else talk about what they are passionate about.
Have you ever had a conversation with a friend or family member where they have told you about what they are currently working on? They go into all the details, you can sense the excitement in their voice, and you can recognize how passionate they are about this topic.
The passion they portray can help you find inspiration with what you are struggling with. When you see someone excited and care about the path they are going down, it inspires you to find your calling to be as excited about.
5. Read About The Success Of Others
Similarly to watching a professional perform, another way to find inspiration is reading about the success of others.
It seems as though all successful individuals write an autobiography at some point along their journey. While it can be a lucrative endeavor for the successful individual, it can also be a great source of inspiration for those that read it.
Being able to understand the difficulties experienced by those who have found success can add some perspective to what you may be going through. It allows you to recognize that these successful individuals are only human.
While they may be extraordinary humans, they too had tough days and lacked inspiration, but were able to keep working hard to achieve their dreams.
6. Go Outside And Get Some Fresh Air
Sometimes all you need is the wind on your face and the sun in your eyes to help find inspiration. Similar to exercising, going outside for a walk, a hike, or sitting on a bench and relaxing in nature relax can help give you a break from what you are working on.
Many individuals find inspiration in the beauty of the outdoors. It acts as a distraction from the obstacles they may be facing.
Furthermore, being in nature serves as a reminder of how lucky you are to be alive. When you can find beauty in the simplest forms, such as in nature, it helps put the problems you are facing into perspective.
7. Take A Break – A Real One
A coffee break here and there are important on a day to day basis.
However, sometimes you need a real break. You need to remove yourself from work for more than an hour or two to find some inspiration again. At times like these, consider taking a few days off or a vacation to help regroup.
When you are caught up in your day-to-day routine, you often find yourself going through the motions. As you repeat the same cycle for an extended period, you lose your drive to experiment or take risks.
When you distance yourself from what it is that you are struggling to find inspiration for, it keeps your mind active with other activities. After taking a physical and mental break, you allow yourself to come back with a sense of motivation and hunger to reach for new heights.
8. Realize You Are In Control Of Your Own Destination
It can be quite inspiring when you can realize that you and only you are in control of your destiny.
Throughout the early years of your life, you live under the direction of your parents, teachers, coaches, etc. There are many times when you don’t understand why you are doing something, or don’t have interest in doing something, but you continue to do it because you are a kid.
Firstly, you don’t know any better, you do as you are told. Secondly, you might not have the confidence at a younger age to speak out about what it is that you want.
Thirdly, parents have had their own experiences and typically try to influence you in a way that they believe will promote success and happiness.
Certain aspects of your parent’s and teachers’ influence will continue to guide you throughout most of your life. At some point, however, you get to an age when you are in charge of making important decisions.
You will reap the benefits of some decisions and you will face the consequences and learn from other decisions you make.
The point here is that you are in control. It is within your power to make the changes needed. Too many people accept what life is offering them without questioning why they are doing what they are doing.
If you lack inspiration daily because of the job you are at, or the relationship you are in, or for any other reason, take charge of the situation and do something about it. It is only you that can control your destiny.
The realization that there are 86,400 seconds each day. What are you doing today, so that tomorrow you are a step closer to where you want to be? If not now, then when?
